The rise of the Bikini Competitor.
Competing with the WBFF (World Beauty Fitness and Fashion) has honestly been a highlight and the best decision I ever made. http://www.wbffshows.com.au
I have never felt more beautiful in my life and the girls that you compete with are amazing.
But competing isn't for everyone.
You need to really know WHY you want to do it.
Give yourself enough time to prep.
And recognise if you’re not ready.
Too many girls are seeking out coaching for a 12 week comp prep package and honestly prep doesn’t happen in 12 weeks.
You need to be training at a relatively good intensity for a longer period of time and be ready to put in the work.
Having no weight training experience and wanting to get on stage in 12 weeks is silliness. You need to give your self enough time to get in the best shape you can in the healthiest way possible!
I have heard stories about coaches putting girls on less 1000 calories a day and training twice a day for 12 weeks or longer.
WHO THE HELL WOULD DO THAT!
I would hate life.
My partner would hate me.
My friends would disown me.
I would be terrible to be around.
But worse than that your health suffers. Being on such low calories for a long time has a detrimental effect on your body and hormones. Ever heard of metabolic damage?
Its when you metabolism is so messed up from dieting for so long that no matter what you do, exercise more, eat less, exercise even more eat even less, eat a ton more and do less you weight ski-rockets and you cant get it right.
Girls your periods will stop when you get dangerously low on calories. This is because your body does not have enough available energy to perform its daily bodily functions, so it reduces its expenditure, how does it do that? it cuts down on things that are not essential for survival, so your periods stop.
The stage will always be there. Don't rush through a 12 week program to only stress that you wont be ready or have to take you body to drastic measures to get you ready.
Take the time to enjoy the process.
Build the muscle you need, by eating the food you need to that.
Its a slow process.
Then enjoy the phase of cutting, on higher calories.
Enjoy the shape your body takes, while your still feeling amazing and able to function at work.
As I said competing isn't for everyone and you shouldn't consider doing it because its the new big thing to do and everyone you know is doing it.
Understand the reason why you want to get on stage.
Know the process involved!
Research your coach.
Anything that doesn't seem right to you, then question it.
