There are a few 'NO NO's' that every trainer must learn. The relationship between client and trainer can sometimes become blurred or progress into a friendship. But when you're with a client in that session, the professional that must be worn at all times.

7 Things a Personal Trainer Should Never Do:

  1. Use their phone whilst with a client for calls, messaging, social media. Videoing a client for feedback is an appropriate use of a phone in a session.

  2. Make a client feel uncomfortable.

  3. Laugh at or make fun of a client.

  4. Continue to let a client lift with bad/unsafe form

  5. Be late to a session.

  6. Look around the gym, zone out whilst with a client. FAIL!

  7. Doesn't practise what they preach.

It's very easy to commit any of these sins when you're not present at each session with your client. Overwhelmed, busy and underprepared, lack of knowledge or skill can result in any of these.

It's important to check in with yourself and make sure you are being the best possible trainer for your clients.
